Partners and Collaborators

Below are links to some of the great organizations and institutions we collaborate with:

The Friends of Edgewood Recreation Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the parent organization of the Edgewood Community Garden.  Their purpose is to provide services to the residents of Edgewood; to provide resources for maintaining and improving the Edgewood Recreation Center; and to inform the community about scheduled events at the center.

DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the garden are in a Community Garden Partner Cooperative Agreement to maintain garden beds at DPR's Edgewood Recreation Center.  DPR's mission is to enhance the quality of life and wellness for DC residents and visitors by providing equal access to affordable and quality recreational services by organizing programs, activities and events.

remotion generously donated one cubic yard of rich compost soil to kick-off our 3rd garden season.  remotion is a full service waste collection company specializing in the removal of food waste from homes, businesses, and communities. They serve Baltimore, Washington DC and the greater Mid-Atlantic region.

Old City Farm and Guild has generously supported the garden's efforts since it began in 2012.  Their mission statement is “Bringing people and plants together by co-creating a space for gardeners, artists, students, and neighbors in order to cultivate a green community for all.”

Public Service Grant Commission (PSGC) awarded Cassie and Karin (co-directors) in 2012 to build 4 raised garden beds on the upper field of the Edgewood Recreation Center's property.  The PSGC is the GW Center for Civic Engagement's social innovation fund supporting GW students' entrepreneurial passions for stimulating change and delivering solutions through student-led service projects and initiatives in partnership with Washington, DC area organizations.

All of Earth Day Network’s activities, whether greening schools or promoting green economic policies at home and abroad, inform and energize populations so they will act to secure a healthy future for themselves and their children. With its partner organizations, EDN provides civic engagement opportunities at the local, state, national and global levels. At every turn, EDN works to broaden the definition of "environment" to include all issues that affect our health, our communities and our environment, such as greening deteriorated schools, creating green jobs and investment, and promoting activism to stop air and water pollution.
